Cowden

Cowden is a charming village located in the heart of the beautiful rural landscape of Kent, South East England and somewhere I am very fortunate to be able to call home. Here are some things to do and places to explore in Cowden and the surrounding areas:

Country Walks:

One of the highlights of Cowden is the gorgeous countryside that surrounds it, dotted with picturesque villages, woods, and fields you can be here for years and never have to take the same route. Also other local favorites for walking include:

– Ashdown Forest: A stunning area of heathland and woodland that inspired A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh books.

– Weir Wood Reservoir: A peaceful and scenic spot for bird-watching and nature walks.

– Penshurst Place and Gardens: A magnificent Elizabethan manor house with extensive gardens and parkland.

Local Pubs:

Cowden is home to two lovely pubs, each with its own unique atmosphere and charm. Here’s what you can expect from each one:

The Fountain Inn: This historic pub is a local favorite, serving up classic British pub fare and a great selection of beers and spirits. The building dates back to the 15th century and has a cozy, traditional interior complete with an open fireplace and exposed beams. The Fountain Inn also has a lovely outdoor seating area, perfect for enjoying a pint in the sunshine. The pub prides itself on its warm, friendly welcome and its emphasis on good food and drink.

The Queens Arms: This more modern pub has a bright and airy interior, with a spacious bar area and comfortable seating. The Queens Arms is known for its excellent food, which is made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The pub also has a great selection of beers and wines, making it a popular spot for a relaxed evening out. The Queens Arms has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and is popular with locals and visitors alike.

Both of these pubs are personally highly recommended for a great dining and drinking experience in Cowden.
